Discover the crucial role of the evaporator coil in you. The evaporator coil plays a vital role in the air conditioning system by removing heat and moisture from the air using a refrigerant. Located inside the air handling unit of modern central air conditioners, it facilitates smooth heat exchange.
The operation of the evaporator coil involves circulating cool air throughout your home. Positioned within the air handler, it contains cold refrigerant supplied by the compressor. The fan blows air over the coil, extracting heat from your indoor environment. Then, the warmer refrigerant returns to the condenser coil outside, where it releases heat. However, during colder periods, the heat pump alters the process for heating.

Ensuring the evaporator coil remains clean, free from dirt, and debris is crucial for uninterrupted operation and efficient moisture removal from the air, making it a vital component of the overall air handling system. Accumulation of dust or dirt can lead to ice formation, restricted airflow, and discomfort indoors. Additionally, the evaporator coil may develop refrigerant leaks, requiring repair or replacement.
Both the evaporator and condenser coils are critical elements that can impact system performance and comfort if they become dirty or blocked.
